If there really is a Grinch, he might have made a stop in Southwest last week. On at least two occasions, people reported to police that their holiday gifts were stolen.

Overnight on Dec. 21-22, someone stole wrapped Christmas gifts from a car parked in the Calhoon Loop building’s garage at 3104 W. Lake St., according to a police report.

The next day, Dec. 22, a woman reported that someone kicked in the back door of her home in the 5700 block of Nicollet Ave. S. and took the woman’s Christmas gifts and her TV.

A third incident that night didn’t involve Christmas gifts, but it did involve the theft of presents. At a 15-year-old’s birthday party inside St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church, 3450 Irving Ave. S., someone stole an estimated $1,000 worth of gifts and cards.
