Sunny weather is in store for 38th Street’s annual festival on Saturday, Sept. 29.
“Experience 38” will celebrate 38th Street businesses at Grand, Nicollet and Chicago from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., featuring a slew of sidewalk sales, concessions and kids’ activities at each corner.
“I have 200 cupcakes coming,” said Julene Lind, owner of the Nicollet Ace Hardware store at 3805 Nicollet Ave.
Later that afternoon, Victor’s will offer drink specials on its patio at 3756 Grand Ave. from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Experience 38 has a long list of deals and events. The Chicago Fire Arts Center will showcase mobile welding. Blackbird will host a duck pond, and Mulroy’s will have a bouncy house. Twin City Tattoo will paint faces. Golden Leopard will offer free trial Kung Fu lessons. Finer Meats will be grilling ribs. Former HGTV designers from Cy Winship Design and Your Style reDesigned will host a sample sale flea market. There will also be bike check-ups, chair massages, a photo both, and the neighborhood’s signature ice cream flavors from Sebastian Joe’s: Nicollet Pothole and Crème Fraiche Curry Crunch.
Money raised will go to local causes, such as the Sabathani Community Center and the new children’s play area at Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
